For our first employee spotlight, there is no one better to highlight than Marc Wien. With over fifty years of flooring experience, he’s been a role model to everyone on the Marshall Flooring team. Throughout the years, his title at the company may have changed, but his commitment to being an outstanding father and husband hasn’t faltered, helping shape his sons into the men they are today.
Marc’s Marshall Flooring Journey
Marc dipped his toes into the flooring industry in the 1970s alongside his brother, Chuck, and his father, Marshall. Marshall Flooring’s beginnings, formerly known as Marshall Carpet, began in a measly 800-square-foot showroom on the second floor of the Richmond Mall in 1966. From the beginning, Marc was dedicated to helping his father’s business excel in all capacities.
By 1979, Marc and his brother assumed ownership after purchasing the business from their dad. They worked together to implement fresh ideas and changes to Marshall Carpet while still staying true to our roots. Regardless of ownership, upholding the highest standards of customer service never wavered. Grandpa Marshall’s foundation laid the groundwork for generations of success, and under joint ownership, Marc and Chuck helped to grow our footprint and become the Marshall Flooring that we know and love today.
Marc’s Life Outside The Showroom
Outside the showroom, Marc is a dedicated father, husband, and grandfather to a growing family. Running a business takes an incredible amount of time and dedication, but Marc still found the time to be involved in all five sons’ activities and active within the community, coaching their soccer and baseball teams during their childhood.
Family has always been, and will continue to be, an important part of Marc’s life. Whether it’s the time in the showroom or life at home, he cherishes the memories he’s made with his wife and sons. A lifelong traveler, he loves vacationing with his family and looks forward to traveling more as his sons’ families grow.
